OVERVIEW

Membership Application

Children who learn healthy behaviors from their parents, community, and teachers are better students and as such are better equipped to make the appropriate lifestyle choices at appropriate ages. Having the right information to make the right lifestyle choices can add years to a child's life as well as improve the quality of his or her life -time health. Council members of the Austin Independent School District's School Health Advisory Council can make a positive impact on the future health of our children by helping the Council make recommendations that will result in quality school health programs for our children.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Committed to quality school health programs for the children attending AISD schools
  • Contacts in one or more of the various and diverse communities within the AISD community
  • Has expertise in a field that can contribute to the Council in making its recommendations
  • Willing to commit time

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve on, and attend, meetings of the AISD School Health Advisory Council
  • Lend your experience and expertise in helping the Council make recommendations to the Board of Trustees on topics related to school health programs
  • Network within your circle of contacts to gain their insights on health programs and encourage them to support our recommendations
  • Work with committee on research and analysis of specific issues relating to school health

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Approximately 2-6 hours per month
  • Monthly Meeting 1st Wednesday each month
