Lanier High School
Letter to Lanier Parents
August 17, 2005 - Dear Lanier Parents,
Yesterday, we had an incident at Lanier, and I would like to fully inform you about what happened and ask for your continued help in keeping our school safe.
[ En Español ]
Thanks to the observation of a responsible student who called Campus Crimestoppers, and the fast work of AISD Police officers, we confiscated a gun that had been brought to school by a student.
There were no direct threats made against anyone. Still, this is a very serious violation of law and the AISD Code of Conduct. The student has been removed from campus, and appropriate legal and disciplinary action will be taken. I want to salute the student who anonymously informed Campus Crimestoppers of the weapon’s presence, as well as the professional action of the AISD officers who worked quickly to ensure the safety of our campus.
The safety of your children, staff, and any visitors here at school is of paramount importance. Please help us reinforce this message. Talk to your child this evening about the importance of telling us of any action they may witness that threatens campus security. Remind them that Campus Crimestoppers is an effective option to reporting criminal activity at our school. The telephone number of Campus Crimestoppers is 499-TIPS (8477). All information is confidential. Working together, our staff and students can keep our school safe.
Finally, please feel free to contact the principal’s office at 414-2514 if you have questions or concerns you want to share. I assure you that the Lanier administration, faculty, and staff are committed to maintaining a school environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. We pledge to continue our vigilance in keeping Lanier a safe campus throughout the 2005-06 school year. Thank you.
