Mission Statement

The mission of professional learning for Austin ISD is to enhance the knowledge, skills and performance of all employees to advance student learning.

School Goals

Professional development of all school staff members is essential to improving the learning of all children. Effective staff development focuses on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of teachers, administrators, and other school employees so that all students can learn and perform at high levels.

Our goal is to provide professional development which will ensure:
--qualified personnel in every classroom/department
--effective leadership for every campus
--high levels of continuous learning for all; and
--application of learning to benefit students.

Major Programs and Initiatives

Student Teacher Coordination: working with student teachers
New Teacher Academy: 5-day induction program for new teachers
Teacher Mentor Program: ongoing support for novice/new teachers
Teacher Leadership Development Program: development & support for teacher leaders
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards: supporting educator excellence in AISD
Teacher Recognition:
AISD Teachers of the Year (experienced teachers at campus & District level)
Teachers of Promise (novice teachers at each campus)
