Mission Statement

Our mission at Pease is for all students to excel: •Personally •Emotionally •Academically •Socially•Everyday!!

Pease, a small all-transfer school located in a historic downtown building, serves a diverse population of approximately 260 students. At Pease we believe: • Diversity is a strength. • Intelligence is built through effort.• A respectful environment is essential to learning. • Education is a collaborative effort. We celebrate the success of students as they strive to do their best in each endeavor they undertake.

Teachers and parents work closely together with students to ensure achievement. Pease provides a strong and enriching educational foundation for all students. Our curriculum is based on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and aligned with Austin ISD’s Curriculum Road Maps (CRMs). Student progress is carefully monitored to ensure all students achieve. Students contribute to performance and work portfolios in the course of their classes. In the fall and spring semester, Parent/Teacher conferences are held. The teachers share present achievements and future learning goals with parents and students.

Pease has been recognized by the Anti-Defamation League as a No Place for Hate campus. We integrate Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies and our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons to ensure that our students grow socially and emotionally as well as academically. Our students and staff follow the TRIBES agreements of Mutual Respect, Attentive Listening, Appreciations/No Put Downs, and we honor the Right to Pass.

There are many extra curricular opportunities at Pease. The Bobcat Singers Choir consists of students in grades 4-6 and performs at various school and community events. Students in all grade levels participate in a Winter Music Program each year. Orchestra and band opportunities are also part of the sixth grade curriculum. Additionally, we have an art club, chess club, and offer a tuition based after school Spanish program, Mariposas. Academically enriching opportunities; such as, our fifth grade's participation in The University of Texas Shakespeare at Winedale Outreach Program, sixth Grade Science Olympiad, science fair, Math Pentathlon, and UIL Academic competitions are also available at Pease.

Pease offers an after school PEP (Pease Enrichment Program) program that has been in existence for over 100 years. Highly qualified Pease staff members provide a safe and nurturing environment where students engage in various enriching activities along with some homework support.

Traditions play an important role in our community. In the fall, the we celebrate Pease’s birthday with our Halloween Hootenanny. The Pease community comes together for a Thanksgiving Luncheon and Book Fair. We celebrate spring with a Fine Arts Night followed by our annual May Fete event, a school wide dance program that culminates with the graduating sixth graders dancing around the May Pole.
