Mission Statement
The mission of the Liberal Arts and Science Academy is to offer a rigorous, innovative, and nationally recognized interdisciplinary curriculum to educate socially responsible leaders, problem-solvers, and thinkers. The School stands at the forefront of the nationwide effort to produce graduates with exceptional knowledge and skills in English, other languages, mathematics, science, social studies, and technology. An outstanding high school education at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy of Austin (LASA) prepares students for higher education and at the same time encourages them to make a significant contribution to their community, state and nation. The cornerstones of the Academy are learning, integrity, responsibility, and creativity. The instructional program includes advanced academic magnet course work in science, computer science, robotics, mathematics, social studies, English, French, German, Latin, Japanese, and Spanish. LASA has developed four-year strands that include rich, original magnet courses, Advanced Placement work, and courses that extend beyond the Advanced Placement level. Major Programs and Initiatives
