AISD to Hold Discussion on Student Health on Wednesday, October 21
October 21, 2009 - Austin School District Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen and the District’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) will hold a conversation this afternoon (Wednesday, October 21) on student health issues. The conversation will take place at the St. Vincent de Paul Auditorium, First Floor, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The auditorium is located at the Seton Administrative Office, 1345 Philomena Street.
The conversation is intended for key stakeholders from the health community to engage in dialogue with Dr. Carstarphen around student health issues. An agenda is below.

This meeting is one of a series of Community Conversations on subjects where dozens of interested stakeholders have requested meetings with Superintendent Carstarphen to discuss specific topics with her.

“I want to bring together people of like interests, who have offered to help AISD, so that together, we can talk about an issue that the District needs to address, and so that we can coalesce resources around a common purpose, especially where we have a gap in need,” Superintendent Carstarphen said.

In addition to student health issues, Dr. Carstarphen has a Community Conversation scheduled on Special Education, which will take place on Wednesday, November 18. Also to be scheduled is a conversation regarding Bilingual Education/English as a Second Language.

Additional Community Conversations with Dr. Carstarphen will be scheduled as necessary on other subjects.
