Recently, a Superintendent's Task Force on Early Childhood Education was formed to develop recommendations for the ideal system(s) to provide pre-kindergarten and special education services to all eligible students. This 24-member Task Force reflects key stakeholder groups in pre-K and early childhood education, including representatives from the business community; higher education; City of Austin; community agencies; faith-based, nonprofit, and private childcare; campus administrators and teachers; and central office staff. The Task Force will meet twice monthly through October, with the exception of July, and will report its findings and recommendations to Trustees in October 2006.
