Citizen's Communication Policy

Members of the community are invited to address the AISD Board during the public comment period at regularly scheduled Board meetings. Each speaker is limited to two minutes, with a limit of 30 speakers. Those wishing to speak must sign up on the day of the meeting at the Superintendent's office during regular office hours (7:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.) or at the meeting location from 4:45 p.m. until the meeting begins.

Speakers are assigned in order on a first-come, first-serve basis. When signing up to speak, each person must provide the following information: name, address, telephone number, the subject to be addressed and, if applicable, the group or organization the person represents. An individual may not sign up for another person or exchange or yield time to persons who have not signed up to speak.

All citizens' comments at Regular Board meetings are televised and rebroadcast on AISD Cable Channel 22 and over the AISD Website

Public Hearings

The Board may schedule public hearings to gather input on a particular subject. If you wish to speak during the public hearing, you must sign up the day of the hearing in the Superintendent’s Office (Room A-250) during regular work hours and from 4:45 pm until the beginning of the hearing in the location on the notice of the Board hearing as posted.

Speakers will be asked to provide their name, address, email address, telephone number, and signature. No person is permitted to sign up on behalf of another person nor to exchange or yield time to others. There is no limit to the number of speakers who may speak, but the Board designates the number of minutes allowed per speaker. If there are fewer than 40 speakers, each speaker will be allotted 2 minutes. For 40 or more speakers, one-and-one-half minutes are given.
