As TAKS Requirements Increase, Austin Students Keep Pace
Austin students continued to keep pace with rising Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) requirements in 2005, showing improvement at all grade levels and for nearly all student groups, according to test results released by the Texas Education Agency. Of the 63 possible comparisons (nine grade levels tested times seven student subgroups), Austin students showed improvements in 58 subsets over 2004, or 92 percent of all categories.
