|Title I, Part A SPED:IDEA State Fiscal Stabilization Funds||
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
Dear Parents, Teachers, Business Partners, and Community Members,
As you know, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009. For education programs alone, over $11 billion dollars was made available through the Department of Education. This represents an enormous increase in education funding for Texas.
As of today, AISD has received over $60 million ARRA dollars through the State Fiscal Stabilization, Title 1, IDEA, Title 2, Part D, Title 1 School Improvement, and Vocational Rehabilitation funding programs. ARRA is an opportunity for the district to strategically implement research-based programs and to develop new, innovative strategies. For the next two years, we will evaluate how well these programs meet the needs of our students, making changes based on data-driven evaluation over the lifetime of these projects, thus ensuring that all stimulus dollars we receive support our students' education, preparing them to graduate from high school both college and career-ready.
As part of our commitment to transparency regarding how the district uses stimulus dollars to support educational programming, we are providing information to the community on our web site about the amount of funds AISD has received, how those funds are being spent, and what benefits will accrue to AISD students, parents, schools, and communities. I encourage you to review the information to see how we are using ARRA dollars to support and enhance public education in central Texas.
