2004 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Construct eight-classroom addition
• Improve storm/site drainage in selected areas
• Repair/replace roofing over entry vestibule and canopies
• Repair/refurbish ceilings, walls and floor coverings at entry, administration area and art room
• Install new ventilation system equipment to serve kitchen, cafeteria, administration area and computer lab
• Install playslab cover
• Install safety and security enhancements

Improve storm/site drainage in selected areas. Regrading and new paving at the front entry and regarding around the existing kindergarten playground. Complete. Under budget.* Kiker PTA donated limestone blocks and brick \"donor\" pavers that were installed as part of construction around front entry. PTA installed benches and trash receptacles. Additional drainage improvement work was performed at the kindergarten playground. Environmental incorporated into the work included native landscaping and irrigation timers.
Construct eight-classroom addition and associated parking, heating and air conditioning improvements, new playslab cover, safety and security enhancements and ceiling/wall repair at front entry. Complete. Over budget. Program contingency funds are being used.* Three portable classrooms were initially removed from the site. Some environmental and sustainable items being considered are: on-site detention, sedimentation and filtration, window tint, window overhangs, high mass wall construction, light colored exterior finishes, use of low VOC (Volatile organic Compound) materials, high efficiency equipment, energy management system, high efficiency lighting system, lighting controls, use of aerators on fixtures, and building commissioning. In order to compensate for increase of impervious cover, due to classroom addition and parking, AISD is meeting with the City of Austin to determine a mutually agreed upon strategy to meet impervious cover requirements for the site.
Playslab cover. Complete. Under budget.* Grouped with five other schools.
Repair/replace roofing over entry vestibule and canopies, reglazing windows, repair miscellaneous wall panels. Complete. Under budget.* New replacement roof system will provide increased thermal efficiency and solar reflectivity.
Install supplemental conditioned fresh air system at classroom wings. Complete. Under budget.* Grouped with work at Covington Middle School. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment will be high efficiency and meet or exceed latest energy standards (ASHRAE 90.1, 2001).

*Budget for the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs are reported as both individual project budgets and overall program budget. While specific projects may be over or under budget, the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs remain well within the total program budget.
