2004 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Construct additional parking spaces in selected areas
• Repave student drop-off drive on south side of building
• Install additional exterior security lighting
• Install canopy lighting at ends of classroom wings
• Connect all downspouts to underground drainage piping
• Improve grading and construct concrete drainage structures at gymnasium area
• Install concrete paving at service drive
• Resurface existing tennis and outdoor basketball courts
• Construct sidewalk along south side of cafeteria
• Repair/replace deteriorated exterior metal doors, frames and hardware
• Replace approximately 80,000 square feet of built-up roofing
• Repair/replace window wall system in 100/200-classroom wing
• Install elevator for 100/200-classroom wing
• Renovate/refurbish student and faculty restrooms
• Refurbish casework in science and fine arts classrooms
• Replace clock system
• Replace deteriorated exhaust fans in student and faculty restrooms
• Repair/replace/modify selected ventilation system equipment
• Install emergency egress lighting
• Install additional electrical circuits for computer classrooms
• Construct addition to girls’ and boys’ athletic dressing/locker areas

2008 Bond Program Scope of Work

Current Schedule Budget General Environmental
Repair/reseal walls and windows. Complete. Within budget. Funded with 2002 bond funds. Operations budget paid for the cafeteria work.* The presence of asbestos in the window glazing influenced the decision to replace the windows, vs. replacing the glazing. Window replacement was more cost effective and new windows in other Burnet classroom wings were installed. Less glass and more insulated panels will reduce the heat gain through the window wall.
Safety and security: card reader door access. Complete. Within budget.* Grouped with four other schools.
Kitchen hood fire suppression replacement. Complete. Under budget.*
Addition to the boys and girls athletic locker rooms, enclosing an exterior corridor, replace clock systems, expand cafeteria stage including dressing rooms and storage, renovate restrooms, install security enhancements, replace window wall system, refurbish science and fine arts casework, renovate and replace certain heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, install new elevator, resurface PE courts. Complete. Over budget.* Project started late summer 2008 due to permit delays. Skills for Living renovations completed with use of annual Maintenance & Operations (M&O) funding. Green products, sustainable and energy-efficient equipment and building systems will be used.
Replace 80,000 square feet of built-up roofing. Complete. Over budget.* Project delayed due to the delivery of materials. Employ all feasible green building strategies.
Safety and security: closed circuit TV. Complete. Under budget.* Grouped with five other schools.
Install exterior lighting and timing device. Complete. Within budget.*
Repair/replace roofing at 400-classroom wing, administration area, gymnasium dressing areas, and hallway corridor to industrial arts and music wing. Substantially complete. Under budget.* New replacement roof system will provide increased thermal efficiency and solar reflectivity.
Replace cooling tower. Complete. Over budget.* Grouped with project at Dobie Middle School and Andrews Elementary School.
Replace dishwasher. Complete. Under budget.* Exhaust hood delayed due to need to relocate a fire alarm device. Grouped with eight other schools. Old equipment being replaced by high efficiency unit.
Replace bleachers. Complete. Under budget.* Grouped with project at Dobie Middle School.
North alternative education learning support centers. Complete. Grouped with 14 other schools.
Install automatic power factor correction and harmonic distortion mitigation system. Construction phase. Under budget.* Grouped with nine other facilities.

*Budget for the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs are reported as both individual project budgets and overall program budget. While specific projects may be over or under budget, the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs remain well within the total program budget.
