2004 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Install additional exterior security lighting
• Improve storm/site drainage at building perimeter
• Excavate and re-establish stormwater detention/filtration pond
• Repair/replace damages ceilings and soffits below built-in gutters
• Replace deteriorated exterior doors, frames and hardware
• Replace exterior soffit panels
• Repair standing seam metal roof in various locations
• Repair/replace approximately 25,000 square feet of built-up roofing
• Replace damaged wall panels in corridors and entry ways
• Replace clock system
• Renovate/refurbish student restrooms
• Refurbish/replace ventilation system cooling tower, one chiller, one boiler and selected equipment
• Rebuild/replace ventilation system circulating pumps
• Refurbish/replace greenhouse ventilation controls
• Replace deteriorated ventilation system controls and equipment
• Convert two art rooms to biology classrooms
• Install safety and security enhancements

2008 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Technology upgrades
• Install digital heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls to replace deteriorated pneumatic systems
• Construct five-science classroom addition and convert one existing classroom to a science classroom
• Install science safety equipment
• Install automatic power factor correction and harmonic distortion mitigation system

Current Schedule Budget General Environmental
Repair/replace approximately 20,000 square feet of roofing and base flashings above the covered walkway areas in the gym and classroom wings. Complete. Within budget.* New replacement roof system will provide increased thermal efficiency and solar reflectivity.
Safety and security: card reader door access. Complete. Within budget.*
Science classroom. Convert two art classrooms to biology classrooms. Complete. Under budget.*
Security lighting, improve drainage, detention filtration pond, replace and repair ceilings and soffits, replace exterior doors, frames and hardware, renovate student restrooms, replace clock system. Complete. Within budget.* New construction schedule was delayed due to unforeseen asbestos and mold issues. Added renovation of restrooms and repainting of wall panels in fine arts wing to scope.
Safety and security: closed circuit TV. Complete. Under budget.*
Renovate mechanical heating and air conditioning system, replace cooling towers, replace boiler, and replace control systems. Complete. Under budget.* All new mechanical systems will meet and exceed the latest energy standards.
Phase I: Convert one science classroom and acquire science safety equipment. Phase II: Construct five-science classroom addition; install digital heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls to replace deteriorated pneumatic systems. Phase I: Complete. Phase II: Complete. Phase I: Within budget. Phase II: Under budget.* Phase I work, which includes renovations to provide two new science classrooms and a new computer lab, is complete. Phase II work, which includes the construction of a new addition that houses four new science classrooms, a new computer classroom, and new faculty and student restrooms, was complete by the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. New construction and major building system renovations to be designed to meet or exceed Austin Energy Green Building two-star rating.
Veterinary Technology program renovations. Complete. Funded from Construction Management’s Maintenance and Operations (M&O) budget. Work includes renovations to a former meat processing classroom area into Veterinary Technology program classroom space. Sustainable products and energy-efficient equipment will be used in the construction of project.
South alternative education learning support centers. Complete. Grouped with 15 other schools.
Repair/replace classroom heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Complete. Over budget.* Grouped with Covington Middle School.
Install automatic power factor correction and harmonic distortion mitigation system. Construction phase. Under budget.* Grouped with 10 other facilities.

*Budget for the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs are reported as both individual project budgets and overall program budget. While specific projects may be over or under budget, the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs remain well within the total program budget.
