Construct classroom additions and associated parking. Construct outdoor covered cafeteria area. Complete. Over budget due to additional square footage and necessary renovations to existing classrooms to facilitate connection to new building.* Project was expanded from a 12-classroom to a 14-classroom addition to facilitate connection to the existing building. Components of the new Tech High program were also included. Scope of work was approved by the Campus Task Force (CTF), Internal Bond Committee (IBC) and Board of Trustees. Outdoor covered area was added to scope of work using remaining 1996 bond funds. An energy consultant was retained for this work. Implementation included shading devices, window tint, thermal wall construction, use of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) materials, environmentally friendly refrigerants, high efficiency lighting systems, lighting controls, water saving fixtures and building system commissioning.
Construct six-science classroom addition and acquire science safety equipment. Complete. Under budget.* Due to the renovation of existing space into some science classrooms, ten additional standard classrooms will be incorporated into the classroom addition.
