Advocates for Excellence

The Austin Independent School District (AISD) Public Education Foundation is a fund of the Austin Community Foundation. It was created to support and enhance the work of the Austin Independent School District and is committed to support the district reach its work to prepare every child in every school for high school graduation and success in college and meaningful careers.

The foundation is governed by an independent Board of Directors made up of business, community, and education leaders. The foundation's current chairman is Kevin Cole.

Mission

To use independent funds and private resources to support the Austin Independent School District in the following ways:

  • Promoting academic achievement;
  • Building the capacity of school district staff;
  • Encouraging excellence through innovation; and
  • Strengthening community support for the school district.

Fundraising

As determined by its Board of Directors, the Austin Public Education Foundation will be used for fundraising for broad school district initiatives support as well as for district pilots. The foundation will also serve as a recipient of funds from other foundations, awarded as grants.

The foundation will seek contributions through:

  • Grant applications,
  • Corporate solicitations, and the
  • Charitable giving campaign of school district employees.

Decisions regarding the solicitation and distribution of any funds are to be made by the foundation's Board of Directors.
