The Student Intervention Specialist serves as the liaison between the schools and community social and mental health agencies. The Intervention Specialist coordinates and collaborates with over 36 Austin community agencies in order to provide appropriate counseling and social support services for AISD students. The Intervention Specialist works directly with the School to Community Liaisons in connecting students and families who have complex or intensive level needs to receive appropriate community resource services. The Student Intervention Specialist provides ongoing updated community social and mental health information to AISD campuses, counselors, nurses and school to community liaisons.

The Intervention Specialist participates and serves on 12 Austin community task force / advisory councils as the AISD school representative. The Intervention Specialist works as a liaison with the Title IX Coordinator and campuses on Bullying and Sexual Harassment Policy and issues and provides policy training to campus administrators, counselors and campus staff.

The Intervention Specialist attends and participates weekly as the AISD liaison at the Austin Travis County Juvenile Drug Court with Judge King, probation officers, students and parents.
