Austin ISD has a staff of twenty School to Community Liaisons who work with families, community agencies, and district services to help students come to school ready to learn. These professionals espouse the belief that for every problem that keeps a child from learning, there is a resource. School to Community Liaisons provide a wide range of interventions and services:

• Consult with both school and support staff regarding individual student needs...medical, emotional, economic, academic and counseling.
• Provide direct crisis counseling services.
• Make home visits.
• Counsel with families regarding their child and school concerns.
• Provide written as well as verbal liaison with community agencies and private mental health providers.
• Gather sociological data for district assessment.
• Serve as facilitators, speakers, or consultants for parent, student or other discussion groups.
• Organize new programs for solving special problems or meeting special needs.
• Collaborate with local universities and colleges.
