Peer Mediation is...
A program developed to help create and maintain safe and drug free schools by helping students develop the refusal skills needed to avoid substance use and abuse and violence by resolving their conflicts in a positive, peaceful, and prosocial manner. This program improves the school climate by offering an alternative to violent responses to conflict. Teams of students are trained to work as neutral third parties to provide mediation services for their peers who need assistance in solving their conflicts in a positive manner. This program is based on a prevention approach, which builds the resiliency and protective factors for our students. |
