This bibliography is an introduction to children's and young adult books and professional resources that you can use to support the implementation of AISD's Character Education Curriculum for 2006-2007.

AISD has prepared a Character Education manual entitled Character Education: Creating Tomorrow's Citizens. The bibliographies for this year's themes will also be linked to that Web page. The online manual has very good materials for teachers at all grade levels and subject areas to integrate character education into their classroom instruction.

It is my hope that this bibliography will serve as a "springboard" for you, and that as you think of additional titles that I can add to any of the bibliographies, that you will email the titles to me at slukenbi@austinisd.org

The bibliographies for 2006-2007 are not comprehensive but representative of the resources available. All of the books on this bibliography are in print. With time, of course, that "in print" status will change, so this work will be an ongoing one to keep the bibliographies up to date and free of books that are no longer available.
