We are in the process of planning and preparing for the 2013 AISD Special Olympics gymnastics program. As you know, students with intellectual disabilities as well as other disabilities are eligible to participate. Students must be at least 8 years old and attend elementary, Middle School or High School. This program will involve both girls and boys athletes. Girls will compete in the following events : floor exercise, balance beam, vault, and uneven bars. Boys will compete in the following events : floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, & high bar. We also have a Level “A”division for beginning level athletes for the following events : floor exercise, tumbling, vaulting, single bars & balance beam.

Before kicking off the season, we will need your immediate assistance. We ask that you provide us with names of students at your school who would be interested in participating in the Special Olympics Gymnastics Program . Send us the attached list with students names, parents names, and a telephone number.

Our first practice and parent meeting will be held on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the National Elite Gymnastics located in Oakhill. (7632 W. Hwy. 71 Austin, Texas 78735) The first parent meeting and practice will be from 6:45pm – 7:30pm. Then there will also be practice from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Directions to National Elite Gymnastics :

From Mopac : Go South on Mopac and take 290 west exit, go to the fork of Oakhill and take Hwy. 71. Bypass McDonald’s, go until you get to the Shamrock service station. Take a right and you will see National Elite Gymnastics. (7632 W. Hwy. 71)
