Introduction of the new Special Education Director, Raul Leonidas Nuques
We would like to introduce our new Austin ISD Director of Special Education, Mr. Raul Leonidas Nuques. Mr. Nuques arrives to our district with a wide variety of experiences that will enhance his effectiveness in this position.
Mr. Nuques was born in Ecuador and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He is married and the proud father of three children. He has earned a Bachelor degree in Science, Masters degrees in Education Administration and Business Administration, and is currently completing a Doctoral degree in Public School Administration. Raulís professional experience includes teaching math and science in middle and high school to both general education students and students with special needs in United ISD, a middle school Dean of Instruction, 21st Century District Grant Coordinator, and Assistant Principal at a high school in McAllen ISD, and most recently a Principal at Uvalde Junior High.
We are excited about the background and experience that Mr. Nuques brings to our district and special education leadership team. Mr. Nuques is highly committed to improving the programming and education of our students, providing support to campuses, and supporting the needs of parents.
