Office of Academics
Publications
It is with great pleasure that I present to you the first Office of Academics publication, “Rigorous Curriculum for College, Career & Life Readiness”. This publication was designed to give AISD staff a better understanding of the districts academic work. At the same time, it provides a concise overview for educators to use with students’ families to discuss our approach and focus in any given subject. For every curriculum and program area, the guide includes the departmental philosophy, curriculum strands, the district’s instructional approach and “signature programs” with specific methods and content to meet the needs of particular groups of students. We also provide the links for each area to state standards and to a more detailed presentation of curriculum through the district cloud (my.austinisd.org). The mission of the Office of Academics is to develop and systematically support high-quality, rigorous curriculum, programs and resources for school communities through collaborative planning, communicating and building capacity for professional learning so that each and every student is college, career, and life ready for global citizenship. We envision a district that is nationally recognized for the development of high-quality, rigorous core curriculum, as well as leadership of special programs, whose collective energy and resources are directed toward unique and diverse learning needs that lead to high levels of academic achievement, social-emotional development, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the academic success of every student. Sincerely, Dr. Ramona Trevino
